Oganesson

Oganesson is the heaviest known element, sitting at the very end of the periodic table with atomic number 118. Named after Yuri Oganessian, the Russian-Armenian physicist who led the discovery of several superheavy elements, it was first synthesized in 2002 at Dubna. Oganessian is one of only two people to have an element named after them while still alive (the other was Seaborg).

Oganesson is in the noble gas column of the periodic table, but scientists predict it would behave nothing like helium, neon, or argon. Due to extreme relativistic effects, oganesson might actually be a solid at room temperature and could be reactive — the opposite of noble gas behavior! Its most stable isotope has a half-life of about 0.7 milliseconds, and only about five atoms have ever been produced.

Oganesson's symbol 'Og' is a distinctive two-letter element in Spellement. While 'og' is not a common English word beginning, partial emphasis lets spellers use 'o' or 'g' individually. As a vowel, 'o' is especially valuable, making oganesson a surprisingly useful element for creative word building.
