Livermorium

Livermorium is named after Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, California, which collaborated with the Dubna team in Russia to discover it. First synthesized in 2000 by bombarding curium with calcium atoms, livermorium was officially named in 2012. The lab itself is named after Ernest O. Lawrence, inventor of the cyclotron.

Livermorium is a superheavy element that exists for less than a second — its most stable isotope has a half-life of about 57 milliseconds. It sits below polonium on the periodic table, but scientists predict it might behave very differently due to extreme relativistic effects. Some calculations suggest livermorium might have a partially filled electron shell that gives it unexpected chemical properties.

Livermorium's symbol 'Lv' is a distinctive two-letter element in Spellement. While 'lv' is uncommon at English word beginnings, partial emphasis allows using 'l' or 'v' individually. Both are useful consonants — especially 'l,' which is one of the most common consonants in English, making livermorium a helpful word-building tool.
